What do we get? – As stated by Chorus
“The best available broadband on our network is ADSL
ADSL provides basic broadband that supports everyday activities like web browsing, online banking, and emailing.
Potential speed 2 Mbps” – https://www.chorus.co.nz/broadband-checker
- Broadband:
- the top half of the street get > 1Mbps
- the lower half of the street get < 1Mbps ie 0.8 and below

The following was a speedtest done from an island in Thailand

What we actually get on Plateau Road – 25 June 2017

The Frustration
- Students unable to complete “online” assignments
- I am aware of a recent house sale not going through as the buyer was unable to “work from home”
- Work uploads timing out, stating to take several hours – the same upload takes less than 1 minute at a coffee shop in the city
- Uploads of photographs to printers failing as the connection “to slow”
- Software updates taking days to download
- Security updates/patches failing for operating systems updating
- Downloads hogging all resources, so nobody else can use/share services, including the telephone
