Yes, this is default behavior of the theme: it removes page intro when Beaver Builder plugin is used to build the page content.
You have 2 options here:
You can build a custom page intro section using Beaver Builder.
Or you can use PHP code in your child theme‘s functions.php file to enable page intro when Beaver Builder is used on Sermon post type (or adapt the code to your needs):
